Tezzy a.k.a. Montez Dillard, was born and raised in Spartanburg SC, as a southern gentleman with a go hard attitude since birth. Just as any other city, Spartanburg was no different. With the usual negative street temptations and difficult adolescent choices, Tezzy chose to express him through Hip Hop.
He began writing constantly and dissecting the rhymes of top rappers while trying to find his own style. It was in middle school when he developed a brotherly bond with rapper and now business partner Naran Miller, and later with Marquis Whitmere. Although all three were from different corners of Spatanburg, they formed as a group, performing at school talent shows, local events and for anyone that would listen.
High school became the most pivotal time for him and a series of events forever changed the course of Tezzy’s life. Things began to spin out of control, and to top it off; his best friends began preparing for college away from their hometown.
While dealing with more than typical teenage stressors shaped and formed the southern lyricist to who he is now. Tezzy who is no stranger to the legal system often states “I began my rebellious stage, everyone goes through it but, I took it to the next level."
After gaining more knoweledge of self and knowing his true potiental he knows theres more to him than the neighborhood dope boy.
While his partners went away to college, Tezzy stayed back home and began sharpening his rhyme skills and perfecting his flow. With barely a semester gone by Tezzy found him self back with his comrade Naran in a new city, new state and new environment. “Naran told me the time is now and he has my back 150% so I can’t let him down” said Tezzy. The two locked themselves in the apartment, eating, studying and writing and hitting the streets with their CDs.
With only one year of street level grinding, in 2005 the three formed “Major City Entertainment” putting Tezzy as the front man. His 1st mix tape “Welcome to Major City” worked its way into every CD deck in the Carolinas earning him the nickname “Carolina Kid” The streets of Charlotte NC truly embrassed him and began to respect his grind.
This attention got his support from club and radio Dj's pushing "Big Bank Rollz" on Power 98 WPEG and every club in the city. In that short time he's done “Major City” things from rocking the stage with Lil Boosie to appearing in Rasheedas "My Bubble Gum" video.
“I’ve been given an opportunity that’s virtually unheard. I’m from humble a city but, we all have dreams. I’m on my way putting my city on the map with help so, I can’t drop the ball the streets are with me on my movment. I’m going to make world know me, intimately. I welcome the world to my life, my goals, my dreams, and most of all I welcome the world to Major City, my home.
