Mikal Townsend aka Christ'd-Out, was born in South Boston, Virginia. Although he was raised in the church he did not aspire to be a holy hip hop artist. By the age of 12 he had began to compose his own rhymes which were kept secret for a period of time because he was not an out-going person.
However, by the age of 15 Mikal had rapped in numerous talent shows, parties, community events and more. He was no longer shy about his craft. He had also teamed up with a very close friend to form hip hop duo, "Lyrical G's".
Secular rap was very appealing to him at the time but people would always ask him when he was going to do a gospel rap. Being that Mikal did have a church background he had no problem doing a gospel rap. However, he had never heard of it before. He did not even know that there was such a thing as holy hip hop.
Upon high school graduation, Mikal attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. While on a campus block party he heard a holy hip hop song for the first time in his life and from that moment forth he knew that genre of music was what GOD wanted him to do.
While there he teamed up with New Jersey native, Big Country and Florida native, Caesar, to form the gospel rap trio, "Soldiers For Christ". After a year of college life none of the trio decided to return back to Liberty University so the group was lost.
Mikal decided to attend Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia in pursuit of a successful basketball career. While attending Roanoke College, he would often make trips to Liberty University to see if any of his old friends were still attending. While doing so, he met up with friend and fellow gospel rapper Eliott Gonzales (Brooklyn NY).
The two connected instantly and formed the holy hip hop duo "Spot Boom". They began to minister locally and afar on a mission to win lost souls by way of urban holy hip hop.
The talented duo sought a record deal or placed their material in the public's eye so the ministry was only heard by a small percentage of people. Eventually the ministry slowed down and the duo decided to go their separate ways.
As time passed Mikal began to face a number of trails and tribulations in his life. The best thing about his trials is that they not only made him a strong man of GOD but they also caused his music to transform as well. He began to view his music as a way of fighting back against every ungodly thing that tried to have a place in his life.
Mikal began to feel as though it was either going to be GOD or nothing at all. He began to realize what the fight of faith was all about. So, out of the pits of adversity emerged the artist known as Christ'd-Out, a supercharged "soldier for Christ" who knows that GOD is all he has and GOD is all he needs...please keep him in prayer. Christ'd Out's music is aired on Rageneo's Internet Radio Station (Kings Level 3 Radio).
